Costa Rica is home to a variety of micro climates and natural wonders. With 26% of its land officially zoned as protected territory, it leads Latin America in certified sustainable tourism. Corcovado National Park located on the Osa Peninsula “has been called the most complete ecosystem in a virgin state in the world”. Costa Rica is also home to 69 volcanoes with Poas being the most active, coffee plantations with some of the world’s best coffee as well as world class fishing and surfing. Almost the size of West Virginia, Costa Rica packs a huge punch in a small package.
In 1948, Costa Rica became the first country to constitutionally abolish its army.
