One of the many questions asked by clients is which is better….an independent or an escorted tour however there is no concise answer to this question. Deciding on the best type of land vacation depends on the individual travelers, their specific needs and what type of experience they desire. Both independent and escorted vacations can be arranged by travel professionals with regards to accommodations, airport transfers and transportation between destinations. However there are some differences between the two, here is a basic breakdown.
Escorted: The price includes local transportation; admission to all sightseeing activities on itinerary; a local guide knowledgeable about the area and language; most meals and a custom made itinerary. The traveler is also able to choose the pace of the tour (leisure- fast paced) based on personal desire.
Independent: Pricing varies based on type and amount of activities desired; flexibility to change itinerary at the last minute; responsible for own local transportation and meals; greater ability to meet new/more people; less assistance available
