Ever wonder why a room in one hotel is so vastly different from the same category in another hotel? This is because there is no unified classification system for hotels, allowing them to abuse these terms in order to get bookings. This inconsistency can result not only in vast differences within hotel chains but within the same property as well. For example, the difference between a standard room and a suite in the same hotel can be determined by as little as décor and linens to a significant difference in square footage and amenities. To complicate things further, room categories also vary greatly depending on the country. To avoid an unwelcomed surprise, do your research and don’t assume anything.
