Ever wonder what happened to that nonstop flight to your favorite locale? Or why you are forced to travel in the opposite direction or over shoot your destination in order to get there? This is due to adjustments in predetermined flight routes. Even though it makes more sense to the consumer to travel direct to a city, it may not make financial sense to the airline. Airlines gather research based on a number of factors including amount of travelers per route, number of vessels, available gates per airport, available fight crew and of course financial feasibility. Using these factors, the airlines establish flight routes that will best serve them financially, sometimes decreasing service on particular routes.
