Americans as a whole are perceived as ignorant and arrogant when traveling abroad in most countries. Although there are a lot of Americans who do not fit this perception, there are those who still persist on “others” conforming to them despite being in “their” country. Etiquette differs and refers to various aspects such as setting (professional vs. casual), body language (gestures, movements, etc), dress and gender to name a few. Do your part by researching and respecting the local customs and etiquette based on your personal specifications to avoid being offensive. And always remember, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”.
