A babymoon is a great way for soon-to-be parents to spend some quality alone time before the baby arrives, however special consideration and care must be taken in order to have a safe trip. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists the best time to travel is during the second trimester (18-24wks). When choosing a destination, pick one that is easily accessible and has good medical care. Minimize your travel time, opting for the shortest routes vs. the cheapest to avoid discomfort with long/unnecessary layovers. Inform potential travel suppliers of your pregnancy prior to booking as some do not allow passengers to travel much earlier than most doctors. And lastly, consult with your OB/GYN per all travel recommendations including destination, travel window, etc prior to booking as they know your personal history and should have the final say.
