The mandated grace period requires airlines to hold reservations at the quoted price without payment for 24 hrs. It also requires airlines to allow cancellations without penalty for at least 24 hrs after the reservation is made for all reservations made at least 1 wk prior to flight departure.  The notification clause mandates “prompt” notification of any flight changes >30 min. This must take place at the gate, on the carrier’s telephone reservation system and on their website. Lastly, the tarmac regulations mandate that delays while on the tarmac cannot exceed 3 hrs for domestic flights and 4 hrs for international flights (entering or leaving US airports). Violation of the tarmac rule results in the airline being fined $27,500 per passenger. Exceptions to this rule include cases of safety, security or air traffic control reasons.

And that’s your MJST Prep School Lesson for the Week
